BLACK LAGOON EP 06

"A gunman is a professional; Someone who shoots randomly - driven by emotion is just a shooter. Cool as a cucumber - If you can't handle that, then just climb a church tower and shoot at idiots."

Very cool. The mangaka is probably a 'gun'zen' too. : )
...and to me this is what separates a cutie boobie shootie anime and this.

DOUBLE IRON FIST ACTION SHOOT!

So today I was able to get home at a respectable hour :) lucky me - so what do I do? I watch the second episode of BLACK LAGOON. While I am still at odds about my true feelings for this anime I find it refreshing that the main actress actually LOOKS like she has the body and the psychotic mindset to fight with two Baretta 92FS (9mm) pistols - given that she is always shooting one handed with her relatively small frame. (I am trying to come to grips if I am more attracted to her ripped up jean shorts or her shoulder rig and pair of Barettas).

As a gun geek aside it is almost given that the mangaka is a John Woo fan of some sort - I know I was smitten withthe Baretta 92FS when I started shooting. This was when I had little access to shooting real guns as many mangakas are in Japan. Still He seems well versed in the operation and realism of guns. (+1 even with my snobbish prejudice)

As you know I am very anti 'gun and girls' anime, but I think I am drawn to the authour's drive as he seems to put a lot of detail into the firearms and seems like he really has a knowledge for them.

OFCOURSE with classic 'BAD ENGLISH THEATRE' greats such as:
"Rock N' Roll Fuckin' Fried Chicken!"
"Omae-tachi wo FUCK o shiteyaru ze!"
"Holy Fuckin' Christ!"
(NOTE: this was ACTUALLY aired on TV - they pulled a 'firefly')
"Amen. Halleluyah. Peanuts Butter!"
"I'll fly you to the moon! (this was said in Japanese tho)"

GENIUS! If you can't tell I am a big fan of 'BAD ENGLISH THEATRE' since college and find it totally appealing to a certain degree. I can only dare to hope native Japanese speakers feel the same when I botch up their language ^_^. (With only 5 tankobouns, its awesome this guy got picked up as an anime)

Which ofcourse brings me to the topic of shooting. After watching that I brought 300 rounds of .45 ACP to the range tonight and proceeded to break in one of my 1911s some more. While the first 200 rounds came and went - I thought - HEY! I haven't done one handed shooting in a while!!!

Plugged my iPod to my headset listening to Elvis for 2 hours... and so I present to you. 100+/- rounds from alternating right hand only and left hand only.

The target is at 7 yards (21 feet) while this feat is nothing to serious competitive bullseye shooters, it was a load of fun for me who hasn't practiced this - the result totally blew me away! : )
-Green area is approximately 70 rounds of one handed right hand shooting.
-While what freaked me out was the orange 3" circles. These are one handed shots with the LEFT HAND ONLY.

I think I may have found the most comfortable one handed stance.
Unfortuantely this is the best pic I could find in short notice.

Notice the one handed stance (and John Browning's 1911), now being perverted as I am, imagine the opposite hand on your belt buckle (as is done by competitive shooters) crotch way out, sholders back - Yes.. JOJO POSING SCHOOL style. Hey's it's weird but it works. It gives me (for now) enough support while also relaxing my shoulders (thus the 70 shots from right hand only - I'd go thru the math but I won't bore you). I find myself beng less fatigued than the typical butt out lean forward TWO HAND stance.

Anyways... that is all. What a night : )

LIFE GOES ON

(I wish I had a camera)
I was driving home today from shooting some trap. It's pretty awesome shooting a 28" over and under shotgun (I call it my Katana ^_^) at clay pigeons for instant gratification. I don't think I'd ever go hunting - but like Dance Dance Revolution I regard it as a 'true murdering martial art superpedobestialia battle action game.' ^_^

I figure that when I am old and senile I can shoot trap and skeet with all the old fogies instead of playing golf.

...anyways... as I was going home I saw about half dozen ducks (they populate the lakes that are around my house) stop by the crosswalk. THE ACTUAL CROSSWALK.. look both ways then cross.

...then I went home - because, even after apocalypse, if we live, we always go home.

Dr. S - Happy Fun Time Firearms Clinic!

If you are a Shonen Manga Fan, then surely you remember SLAM DUNK and Dr. T's instructional... Well this is me, your lovely cute right wing firearms instructor, Doctor S ;)

Today's topic is the Italian made MATEBA SEMI-AUTOMATIC revolver, made popular by Seburo Arm's own Masamune Shirow (Ghost in the Shell, Appleseed).
The Mateba is used by Ghost in the Shell flesh and blood underdog, Togusa.

While the words REVOLVER and SEMI-AUTOMATIC seem like oil and water to anyone who's had experience with each, hand it to those silly Italians to act like the vinegar in the formula.

You can read about this strange, impractical and BRUTAL (to the shooter) handgun here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mateba_Autorevolver
http://www.kitsune.addr.com/Firearms/Revolvers/Mateba_Model_6.htm

If you notice the BARREL on this gun is on the bottom half. REVERSE thinking of any other gun design. Might I, Dr. S refer you to TRIGUN - which uses the same off beat design (barrel on the bottom instead of the top). ANIME trivia and gun trivia.. all at once!

On a clinical side - what does a low barrel do for a shooter? Try this Mr. Wizard experiment at home. boys and girls. Get an eraser and rubber band... tie the eraser to your index finger of your dominant hand - then add a #2 pencil to the top of it so that when pointing the pencil it should be .5" - 1" higher than your finger tip. Now find a SMALL dot target on the wall and try to stab that same point multiple times with the pencil. Now do the same with just your index finger without the 'gear'. More often than not you will find that you 'target' easier, faster and more accurately with constant, reliable repitition with your index finger alone.. That is just how EFFICIENT tools are designed, the closer something is to the alignment of your index finger (and in knife cases, your thumb - that is why a fighting grip usually has the thumb fully extended on the spine of the blade) the easier it is to point.

(While overcompensating again, I JUST read the wikipedia entry for the Mateba.. and YES I came up with the TRIGUN and GITS reference on my own before I wrote this (but it has a lot of cool real world/anime info I didn't know like more data on the TRIGUN angel arms - OK I hope you still love me.)
: )

impractical yes - over compensating yes - verdict.. a good gun to pose with and I'd like one!!

...anyways.. that's all the time we have folks - and remember what Dr. S always says - even if its rude and politically incorrect - just shoot straight, tell the truth, and keep the anti gunner off your doorstep when the zombies come!! ; )

...go for the MASTER SWORD!

THE FORMULA FOR LOVE

in the modern world

So here is a conversation I had...

S: Dude, why do people bother with dating;
and even consider it such an integral part of social existence?

K: Well it's to fulfill a biological need, and since I find that women won't forcefully drag me into an alley to fulfill that need, then dating is a way to acquire that.
S: I guess there is that carnal aspect.
K: It's just about - "These certain conditions have to be met..."
S: TO ACQUIRE THE MASTER SWORD!!!
K: The what?!?
S: You said it yourself - These certain conditions HAVE TO BE MET, then and only then can you attain the MASTER SWORD.
K: ...
S: Good luck! MASTER SWORD!

The beauty of legalizing illegal immigrants...

aka. legalizing illegal anarchy
AND NOW FOR A BEAUTIFUL QUOTE FROM MY BUDDY [T]

No.. its (the rallies) not helping you at all... if these dumb fucks wouldn't have started their protesting you would prolly have gotten your relief (green card) now or real soon... this is basically holding you back...

Think of it this way... lets say you wanted to buy a car and you really liked everything about it... and as you were about ready to buy the car someone came along and painted a big penis on the car... basically now you don't want to buy it...

Well the Mexicans painted a big penis on your car :p

Cowboy Action!

"What is your Cowboy Alias?"

I was feeling pretty down yesterday because I could not find SINGLE ACTION (Cowboy) REVOLVERS on the Kalifornia 'safe handgun list' (Kommunist tax that wants to make it harder for guns to get into Kalifornia).

It turns out that these revolvers are actually CURIO : ) which means they are excempt.
"Certain" means as specified in Penal Code by dimensions/characteristics. They don't give a hoot about brand. Basically it has to be at least a 5-shot, have a minimum barrel length (3"), and a minimum overall length (7.5").

Any unmodified Ruger, Freedom Arms, Taurus, Magnum Research, or Colt SA revolver will fill the bill.

A friend invited me to go do some COWBOY ACTION SHOOTING with him sometime, and thus I want to get into the mood. I sold a few guns and knives to come up with the funds and now I need the following:

- a PAIR of single action revovlers (I am thinking stainless with Ivory handles)
- a lever action rifle
- a double barreled shotgun
- lots (and LOTS) of cowboy clothes
- an "alias" (anything more exciting than "Long Dong the Chinaman"? : B)

I talked to my FFL 'dealer' and the guy's apparently been doing this for 14 years! (No surprise since I've seen the guy shoot a revolver (WOW).

So yes.. "Lightning Larry" has asked me what my Cowboy Alias was.. Personally I think this is a big thing, and not to be taken lightly!! While Johnny Holiday seems very appropriate (if not taken already) I think a more 'racial' tag line might be better... or not. : )
