"Can you fly?"
I recently watched the Japanese movie PING PONG (warning: spoiler alert!!!) You'd think that a movie about table tennis would be extremely silly and nonesensical - but in my opinion this is one of the greatest SHONEN flicks I have seen in a while (undoubtedly it is from a comic/manga).. without a doubt, with all the references to my beloved KAMEN RIDER BLACK (I grew up with the series while others were worshiping SUPERMAN), the freeze frame, STELLAR direction/screenplay and the unreal "manga type" facial expressions - this movie is a winner in my book. I WANT TO BE ABLE TO MAKE THOSE - eyebrow jerking - lip twisting - FACIAL EXPRESSIONS.
...I also am an avid ping pong-er so the acrobatics and kinetics really astound me!!!
I CRIED - that isn't saying much since I cry very easily; but if you cried in this movie too then you're probably as insane as me : ). I can't begin to start praising this movie, it is truly a story of the ordinary lives of extraordinary people - if you step into my house, you HAVE to see this movie.
I tried drawing more Tensai & Z tonight but it didn't come out the way I wanted (POOPS-DE-LOOUPES : p ).. PURPLE is once again put on hold.. I think what I need is a PDA so I can edit text on the road.. . work sucks cause it keeps me from updating my page

Y'know, I've tried to look for Japanese movies (subbed, because I have no J-skills) that Yuu's recommended to me, and noplace around here has anything but a handful of really generic HK action stuff and a few of the drama classics. Do you know of anywhere online that's a good source for stuff like this? :/
I once got a PDA in the hopes of using it like that, and I could never get it to work in such a way that it would be a useful text-editing tool. XP Although it'd cost more, I'd personally recommend one of those very small laptops instead, because they're actually designed to be used for that (and they have more HD space). That's why I got my laptop--only for writing, and also to serve as a portable MP3 jukebox. ^^

mmm... sorry, I don't really know of any websites for foreign stuff since my Meiah was usually the one to bring me everything ^^; PP is really good though. I think GO (another must-see j-flick) made me a Kubozuka fan (the guy who plays Hoshino), but PP was really the movie that solidified it. maybe I can snag an extra copy the next time I go to HK... though that may be a while ^^;

a google search for "ping pong movie" has good links too if you are being blocked. (Its worth it ^_^ but with lots of spoilers!!)
I am not so sure where to get subbed movies on the net : ( being close to San Fran JTown has spoiled me.
I also have a local buddy who is an anime/card shop owner who likes knives.. ^_^ so the barter system is still alive and well.
I would like to get the soundtrack tho.. my copy is VCD.
Thanks for the info on the PDA... I used to have a PalmV that I used that way and it was fine.. it was MUCH better than REDLINING paper then tediously making the changes on the desktop computer.
BTW the [X] for my newest FUTOTD is cause I havent put up a pic yet. >_< speaking of which.. have you developed those drunken stupor sushi pics yet?? : p
..and yes I love and do play Ping Pong. Right hand sword grip : ).

heee, I'm a GO fan, awesome movie, though a very different performance by Kubozuka. I think looking at the extremes between that at PP show what a versitle actor he can be ^^
waitaminute, J, you took pics at the sushi place? were you taking pics at the bachelor's party too? man, I SERIOUSLY did not remember a thing once we got back from the bar... you guys did a good job that night ^^;

You're lucky that you got your PDA to do that...I had a Casio Cassiopeia, and the damn thing refused to upload textfiles to my desktop comp.

Go is one of the movies that I've been wanting to see for all this time. That, and some of the yakuza ones that you mentioned. For some odd reason, I keep forgetting to watch the Ichi the Killer that you gave me...^^;

All 216 of my trip pics have been developed. The photo place screwed up and accidentally printed doubles of the sushi sequence and the first part of the bachelor party. ^.^ I'm planning to scan a bunch of them and make an online photo journal soon. :)
Yes, Yuu, I took pics of all of that stuff...since it's easy being a wallflower, I decided to do something productive with myself and take pictures of everything. I only have about five pics from our meeting because I didn't want to bother you guys every five minutes for a glamour shot. ^^;; But I had no such restrictions at the bachelor party, so there are plenty of pics of you looking totally shitfaced and stuff. XD
And I thought that we didn't do a good job at the party because the others said that you weren't making very many death threats, so you must not have been that drunk...^_^
