people're saying you're their [inspiration]

[LIKE YOU SAVED THEIR LIVES, OR SUMTHIN']
Eversince I can remember (or something) I've always liked fighting movies... and it soon became a fanatical love for movies where (as Yuu aptly put it) triumphs merely because he believes in himself.

I got this trailer from Yuu's LJ, and totally fell in love with it. (It helps that I am totally in love with Russell Crowe ^_-).

You know, people (and once upon a time Yuu did : p) scoffed at this power... If your enemy has two hands, two legs and can bleed then ANYTHING is possible, because having that faith is somehitng not many people can do.

...if you've ever wondered what the definition of a TRAGIC HERO is, then this trailer is it!

my shoulders're tired...

IMAGINE PULLING A LEVER 200times/2hours
I just spent a great bit of the evening reloading (ie. making/building) 100, count em, 100 - .45 ACP bullets... from components. While I find it worthwhile and exhiliarating to reload my own .308 rifle rounds for accuracy (PLUS saving money), I wonder about pistol bullets - just that pistol shooting that I do is not exactly pinpoint marksmanship - so I am thinking - is my time worth $5.00/hour considering how much I can buy bulk ammo for.

Oh well... it's all about a new learning experience I guess. It just sends shivers down my spine when I think that all that hard work will be spent, 100 rounds/2 hours if I take those bullets steel shooting this weekend... (urk) I need a faster setup.

What can I say tho... I am a Chiense Cheap-ass Motherfucker : } I hope my reloads perform.
...OK other than that I also bought some new leather for Lilly my light weight Counter-Sniper Rifle.

Aptly named the CHING SLING (developed by Eric Ching of Gunsite) it's a damn cool sling that's just as good as the hype. Fast lashing for a tight grip on the rifle - the battle stick is supported well on your elbow and shoulders for any position. I kinda wish it was made out of synthetics tho since I don't fancy leather. I prefer black and synthetics on my guns.

While the LTR is great it's a far cry from my love, Lulu : ).
...while reloading tonight (knocks on wood) I was thinking, I would be very sad if I ever lost my right hand. I can't shoot, and I won't be able to draw... life would lose all meaning for me, I might as well have my head lopped off. Thanks to Gyad for my right hand.

...and to end that little ramble of hedonistic philosophy - a paraphrase from the LEE REOADING MANUAL... "While there is no scientific data that clean, POLISHED brass cases will make your ammunition more accurate, if you feel it does, then DO SO.... Because if you don't have CONFIDENCE in YOUR OWN reloads then your ammunition will never PERFORM."

I think this rather plain train of thought has facets that can be applied to many parts of our everyday lives... {I'm tired... these guns seem so cold.}

GO! GO! DANCE FIRE!!

Since I really couldn't focus on anything terribly Earth-shaking yesterday night (again) - and I didn't feel like cleaning pistols or reloading .45 ACP bullets (well actually I did but the bullets haven't come in yet), I went to the gym and drew after (WOAH big surprise : p) - Here's my entry to AnnaRKey's challenge 2 on the D.o.D section of the forum:
T H E - L O C A L - T O N G

"Draw yourself (or your 'representative character'), at the age you are now, but where and as what (in whatever time or imaginary world) you'd like to be if your childhood and/or wildest (non-wet) dreams came true."

READ or DREAM

I just watched the R.O.D. (Read or Die TV series) tonight at anime night.. (and with some kick ass Pho noodles!!) ^_^

I was apprehensive about watching this series.. because TV series (and follow up series) hardly live up to a really cool initial series they're usually based on...

However, I was caught by the really eye catghing name READ OR DIE OVA series, that I had to watch it eventhough it was a cutsie big eyed anime. I forget if I mentioned it before but I think ROD OVA was the first time I found a female character sincerely 'cute' - I guess I am getting soft in my age ^^;;
...just like the original I was PLEASANTLY surprised by this reincarnation of tthe series. We BREEZED through 4 episodes and it left me wanting more.

THIS IS REALLY UNCHARACTERISTIC OF ME
because of the following 3 fundamental truths:
  • The main characters are girls.
  • They are cutesey big eyed girls.
  • The pretense involves BIBLIOPHILIACS (and to those who know me, I DO NOT like reading : p)
Witty dialogue and sincerely funny; Sigh... I did love this one voice actor tho!!!

Vengeful Maria

kill her if you must; but NEVER make a wonderful woman cry

T-SHIRT - it adds such a definite tangible goal...
-instead of just staring out into space today, I thought to do something productive... that is make a T-Shirt.. I have NOT done the TDAY 5 shirt yet : ( because I can't find a competent silk screener locally who can do prints on black t shirts at a small scale... POO! Note to self... next time we do this, make sure the hair is in motion too. (also I seem to be scared to shade the face >_<)
Oh well this is a start. commissioned art from my super good buddy Jim Smyth ^_^. (The enclosed knife is a custom he made for me).

Oh! Dear Friends...

One day, your enemy will become your friend; and maybe one day your friend will desert you. We are so tyipcal, we are so frail...
When you close your eyes everything will disappear.

...and when you open your eyes, who will you see?

(I always loved the phrase 'dear friends' ever since I was very young...)

: )
Last night I went to Nobuo Uematsu's DEAR FRIENDS - to the poopyheads who don't know what this greatness is - it's a concert, complete with spymphonic/Orchestra ensemble, and they played FINAL FANTASY Music. This is DEAR FRIENDS' first USA tour, and their third show. I regretted not going to LA for the first show, but man in San Francisco I could not resist!

I was defintely all smiles last night, and I can't really easily remember when I felt that way. I was wonderful! I want to go next year. (and probably wouldn't mind following the concert around the country if I could)

No, I did not cosplay.. but there were a small handfull of people who did. Maybe if it was a weekend show and not a Monday night show I might have considered it... it would have been fun, or at least work something more formal. (There were a few T shirts, but quite a few guys actually dressed up in suits and ties).

DUM DUM: The MC was some non-gamer chick who does basketball games or ESPN stuff - or something. For me it was really hard to listen to her commentary >_< (the jokes seemed so contrived, and to me, paranoidically condenscending - am I just a meanazoid? It was painful to sit through)
I SO WISHED that Tara Strong would MC (she is the voice actor for Rikku in case you didn't catch that ^_^)

Huh?: One thing that I wanted to note was that the show producer and the MC script emphasized HEAVY on how Game Music was now 'legittemate, recognizable, mainstream..' and other propaganda-ish buzz words. I dunno, I guess I don't really care or have a crusade I want to march for (kinda like when anime wasn't that mainstream in the USA). I just love this concert, and being around others who appreciate it. Being with friends and remembering good old times...
I got no flag, and personally have no need to say "See, there are other freaks like me who listen to game music - you have to respect me now..."

OFCOURSE Nobuo Uematsu being the charming pro that he is ^_- did mention that he was honoured that "Theme of Love" (if I recall correctly) from FF6 will be published in Japanese Elementary school music textbooks ^_^. That and Dear Friends was about thanking his fans, and he appreciates the fact that this is a way younger children can be exposed to symphonic music. (awwww) I am such a wuss : } the man's got nothing to prove, no scarred crusader, and no politics.

OK I should stop rambling.. they played a lot of FF9.. but it was truly epic that everytime they performed somethign from FF7 the crowd went wild. Ofcourse when ONE WINGED ANGEL came out everyone just went APESHIT!!! APESHIT TO MAX DEATH POW MEGATON!!
(me included) ^_- I couldn't contain myself. Golf claps were not enough...

I love this town, I hate this town...

a gift for Ms. Zhang...
...in slight moments of the day I am hit with attacks of the eternal sadness - so I just close my eyes and forget about it, because that does not matter...
