WE WERE MERELY FRESHMEN

...when we fell through the ice, & when we tried not to slip - we'd say it...
Got reminded today, this is one of my favourite songs : ) [FRESHMEN] by Verve Pipe - tho I somehow think that it is so good it's got to be some cover song from the 60s.

Guns, Girls, Alchohol and Testosterone

(none of the first three should be taken at the same time)
I heard an intriguing tidbit on the radio today. God bless Kalifornia.

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/1522984.cms

Here is an excerpt of it:
Handling a gun stirs a hormonal reaction in men that primes them for aggression, Psychologists at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, enrolled 30 male students in what they described as a taste study.

The researchers took saliva samples from the students and measured testosterone levels. They then seated the young men, one at a time, at a table in a bare room; on the table were pieces of paper and either the board game Mouse Trap or a large handgun.

Their instructions: Take apart the game or the gun and write directions for assembly and disassembly.

Fifteen minutes later, the psychologists measured saliva testosterone again and found that the levels had spiked in men who had handled the gun but had stayed steady in those working with the board game. (more notes on active aggression pointed out in th earticle)

Now there was once a time where I would simply be pretty close minded and regard this as a blatant attack to guns, then start calling the other party derogatory names. (and ofcourse the radio star, John Tesh, proceeds to say that (though it is not mentioned in the artcile) the suggestion is not to buy your children handguns or first person shooter video games.) However the more I am educated in the way some anti-gunners (or simply people of a different opinion) are, the more I want to listen to their point of view and while someties I coe up short in a retort, it does reinforce my side of the story eventually...

Everyone is welcome to believe what they want (and raise their children the way they want) In my opinion, Kalifornia has done well in requiring a person aged 21 and older to take a written exam and a practical exam (the latter practical exam for EACH AND EVERY HANDGUN they buy, that to me is redundant and a tax for an educated mind). In my opinion not everyone is responsible or educated enough to buy a gun... The more I learn about the violent and legal reprecussions of handgun misuse the more I respect this tool for its capabilities. I do not think that law abiding citizens should be punished for acts of CRIMINALS.

If I were to make a research study, I would ask an UNLICENSED 13 year old to drive me to the store. However I would know better - and doubt the results would be very nice. Ofcourse if I were to do that I would be accused for having a skewed and unconclusional result.

the answer?

LOVE LOVE SENSATION!

I was, for lack of a better term, obsessing over BLACK LAGOON lately - which is very uncharacteristic of me since I am never really into the GIRL+meets+GUN manga genre (gunslinger girls is also a freak phenomena), but saw some NEAT cosplay (tho I am INSTINCTIVELY very uncomfortable with these people nonchalantly pointing guns at each other) ^_^ GENIUS! I hate to say it but I am totally smitten.

While being smitten I saw the cosplayer's avatar. Quite genius. A spot on Revy (Levi) cosplayer that loves HIDEO KOJIMA.

I then realized that art is such a genius medium. Through someone's work you can get a better feel and understanding of that artists passion and inner workings - eventhough you've never had dinner or had a beer with them.
OH!!! (let's say it all together now...)
OH! DA! TEEEARS!!!

Statement from NRA chief lobbyist, Chris W. Cox on San Francisco Gun Ban Victory

Monday, June 12, 2006

This ruling is a major victory for freedom and the rights of law-abiding residents in the city of San Francisco.

We are pleased with the decision of Judge James Warren of the California Superior Court. In today's ruling, Judge Warren ruled California law prohibits a city or county from banning handgun possession by law-abiding adults. This ruling supports the premise of NRA's argument. The NRA filed it's lawsuit soon after Proposition H passed arguing that the proposition was in violation of California preemption laws that say firearm laws are regulated by the state.

It seems evident that the authors of this measure either intentionally misled voters during the election or authored this proposed measure with gross disregard of California law. Regrettably, the biggest losers were the voters in this municipality who had to bear the considerable financial burden to satisfy the careless political whim of their elected officials.

The NRA is determined not to see this gross injustice happen again and will fight any effort by the gun control lobby and their allies in elected office to resurrect this flawed measure.

It can only happen here... in MD, USA

I was asked to make a flyer for BALIVILLE 2006 ^_^ (the first??? national BALISONG competition in Baltimore, Maryland) While the actual flyer art is still in progress I made this logo submission to try my luck.

I am sure you don't want to hear about the whole platonic desire to legalize balisongs and point out the descrepancies of outdated laws (ie. stealing a man's horse is a crime punishable with death) but just dance with me here...

3000 round anniversary

What we have here is - a slight - psychological disorder

I wonder sometimes - everyone must have some inanimate they treasure that noone else can seem to relate to. A nice lady hugging a snowboard. Maybe a blue haired boy putting his cheek on the hood of his BMW. It's not so much the love of the inanimate object as much as it is the love of how this insignificant manmade tool makes their God given abilities shine brighter and make them rise over the rest of the world.

I just put my favourite Kimber through 3000+ rounds last week so I took it apart on a full detail strip. What a chore, I need to sleep on it. : )

SHOWTIME DENSETSU!

Everyone wanted to be Superman! Because he can fly in the air & never had to do homework. We didn't know back then that we wanted to be free - we didn't know that back then we had a desire to change the world.

I visitted my uncle today cause he was in town (and man my cousin cooks a damn mean rack of lamb - DROOL!) Mom sent over a nice care package which contained some Chinese collar shirts and a handful of cheap RED BULL T-Shirts from Thailand : )

One exciting SURPRISE that she had put in the package were these - pour example...

THIS is the cover of my 'learning package' - basically a textbook from preporatory (Section D) (we were encouraged to decorate the front of our textbooks, I even have one with Optimus Prime ^_^) - basically the year between nursery and 1st grade. This was the first time I knew deep inside that I wanted to draw. True to form when I showed it to my friends they thought it was nothing special, and the teacher said I shouldn't draw such things. Or maybe this is just another complex false memory.

Excuse me but I have to sit in the corner and cry to myself.

THE FINAL JUDGEMENT

Sin & Substance. Everyone will live their life the way they want to.
Instead of going on with a monotonous existence they will [tenaciously] cling onto another prestigious way of life, any way, that seems more fulfilling- and when they do, as long as they drive for that dream, everything will be [right]. Everything will be justified in a blind ambition -Judas Gospel 06.03.06

So today was a silly old Saturday. I got up reloaded, cleaned, nothing much - but I had to pick up a heavy package from the post office today and found a cluster fuck of a garage sale by the P.O. I think it's rather appropriate that I live where I do because of the amount of antique (JUNK) shops in the area. I love browsing through people's drawers and closets to see what weird things they have - and its no exception with the amount of junk shops and garage sales here.

So today I pick up two things for cheap - a futon (like the one I had in college - you know - in order to make yesterday and today the same stuff) and a nice piece of art. $5.00

Now, I was never into fine art... but something about this piece really grabbed me. I can't stop staring at it and to me it was worth every penny : p. It was originally set up to hang horizontal, but I changed it to hang vertical as it does now.

Nothing much.. I just wanted to share. In a dumbass pretentious kind of away I found this cheap velvet Elvis work really called out to me.

THE MYSTERY OF LIFE

Springfield Armory Lightweight operator

A cool new gun from SPRINGFIELD ARMORY - my favourite OPERATOR (that groove on the bottom of the frame in front is a light rail for a flashlight) model but now in aluminum alloy frame - the LIGHTWEIGHT OPERATOR. I am not a big fan of aluminum frames but this is something I am stewing in my head. Bulky frame (yes) while having a lighter weight. I wish the rail went the full length to the edge of the barrel instead of being cut off.
